For therapists

For family therapists, counsellors and coaches: something to hand clients who have a hard family member. A free app on their phone for the moment a message lands, and a printable kit that says the same thing on paper.

What GreyRocked is

GreyRocked is a free app for people with a hard family member. It uses the "grey rock" idea: keep your replies short, calm and flat, so there is nothing to react to. The person taps what happened, and the app suggests whether to ignore it, wait or reply, with short replies to choose from. There is no account and no signup. The tap-button answers work with the internet off.

The full therapist kit: free for the first therapists

47 printable pages for clients with a hard family member. Every reply in it is the same wording the free app gives, so what a client sees on paper matches their phone.

It is free while the first therapists try it. In return we'd like honest notes: what you used, what you'd change, what a client stumbled on, and whether a kit like this would be worth paying for. There is no price yet and nothing is for sale.

Open the therapist kit 🌱

It opens in your browser; use your browser's Print to print it, or save it as a PDF.

To send notes, open the app, tap 💌 Contact at the bottom of the page, pick "Something else", and start with "therapist kit". This page takes no payment and no email address. Please don't send anything that could identify a client. The Contact form is the only way to reach us, and its email box is optional; we use it only to write back.

A free sample handout

One page your clients can fill in: "With them, I will... I won't..." It is the same two-line plan the app has on its "My plan" page, on paper, with the writing left to the client.

Your client's writing stays on their device

What your client saves in the app (their people, their notes, the words they are holding) stays on their own device, and we never see it. The only things that leave are messages they choose to send us (the Contact page or the idea box). If they tap a microphone button, their browser's own speech typing may send what they say to the browser's maker. Like the rest of the site, this page is counted by Cloudflare's cookieless Web Analytics.
